I use theraputic grade essential oils internally, topically and inhaled for mood and stress management. Also some ('Brain Power') help processing ability. I use 'Deep Calm' herbal for stress and sleep right now. Other herb blends with Valerian are good too. I had a very effective Kava liquid from Jade but it was discontinued. Others are moderately effective. Kava Guava tea is quite good if I can find that again. Mine was a gift from Hawaii. Any of these can be overdone and affect mental functions like causing drowsiness or less alert to operate whatever. And don't always think of them in time when I am shutting down. Cry

Meditation and spiritual work is effective, like affirmations on card in my pocket. I don't want to numb all my suffering because it would prevent personal growth. It is easier to bear when I know I will be a better person for surviving experiences. I use the book "Healing Power" by Philip Shapiro, MD (Psychiatrist, but one of a kind) right now. I am afraid of mental or medical professionals who want to drug me. Bad experiences  Angry

Doctors sure are quick to push those drugs that people have to take daily. I think a lot of them are being irresponsible but as long as the drug doesn't have value on street, it seems that they pass the drugs out like candy.

I tried aroma therapy. I feel happy when I get a whiff or ylang ylang or roses. I wonder if I keep those smells with me in little vials and use them whenever I get nervous. Hmmm.

As old as I am, I only recently discovered the power of alcohol to zap anxiety quicky into numbness. I tried it at night but it makes me feel awful the next day and my sleep isn't very good when I drink booze. I can see how people become alcoholics, though. Alcohol is so easy to get and there aren't many other easy-to-get ways out there do zap anxiety on your own,

Whiffs do help. My mate buys me exotic brews and I can drink 1/3 I guess 4 ounces? and too affected to function. Okay for once a week or month. I overreact to most anything.
